Mr. Hamm received his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Business Administration at AMC. He also earned a C.S.S. in Administration and Management from the Harvard University Extension College and completed the General Management Program at the Harvard Business School. In 1986, Mr. Hamm accepted a position with Eastern Bank Corporation where he has remained for the past 25 years.
During his tenure with Eastern Bank, Mr. Hamm served in a variety of professional capacities, most recently serving as the Chief Administrative Officer and Division Head of Consumer and Institutional Banking. In this role, Mr. Hamm was directly responsible for the management of the Bank’s Retail Banking, Business Banking, Consumer Credit, Mortgage Banking, Government Banking, Capital Markets and Financial Institutions businesses and was responsible for billions of dollars in deposits and loans, as well as many complex fee-based businesses. During his career, Mr. Hamm has also been responsible for Operations, Technology, Facilities, Security, Treasury Services, HR and Legal Administration. Recognized as an expert in bank payment systems, he led the consumer lending division of Eastern Bank through the recent economic downturn generating the best results in the company’s history. In addition, his retail division won the last two J. D. Power Top Banking Quality Awards for all of New England and has become the top Small Business Administration lender in New England.

Throughout his professional career, Mr. Hamm has also honed his leadership skills and has served as a guest lecturer at conferences and college and university programs, and completed the Leadership at the Peak Program at the Center for Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Mr. Hamm is a member of a number of local and regional organizations and has served on numerous boardsand committees including, the Massachusetts Bankers Association – Government Affairs Committee, Worcester Economics Club, Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, Junior Achievement of New England, and Anna Maria College. In addition, Mr. Hamm was selected as the National Chairman - American Banking Association - Task Force on Debit Card Fraud and serves as the National Representative for banks $3-10 billion on the ABA select committee on Debit Interchange Impacts.
