Anna Maria College announces that, Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap., Archbishop of Boston will be the keynote speaker at its Fall Academic Convocation scheduled for September 20, 2012. The Convocation will serve as the culmination of activities hosted by Anna Maria College to celebrate its 65th Anniversary. As part of the program, the College will recognize the Cardinal for his extraordinary service and leadership in the Church. Cardinal O’Malley will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Sacred Theology.
“We are extremely honored to have Cardinal O’Malley visit the Anna Maria College campus community,” comments Jack P. Calareso, Ph.D., President of AMC. “The Cardinal’s remarks concerning Catholic education will provide us the opportunity to advance our mission on behalf of the students we serve and the wider community.”
The College began its 65th Anniversary Celebration on September 14, 2011 with a convocation regarding Catholic identity and Catholic intellectual tradition with authors Melanie Morey and Father John Piderit. Other events included a luncheon hosted for AMC’s foundresses, the Sisters of Saint Anne, a Christmas concert featuring student choral and instrumental groups, and a faculty and student art exhibit, among others.
