Business Administration

The major in business administration prepares students to make business decisions with a solid foundation in business concepts and critical thinking skills. Upper level elective courses in management, marketing, accounting, entrepreneurship, and finance are offered to meet the specific educational goals of the student. Students who wish to balance classroom theory with real-life experience are encouraged to pursue one of the many internship opportunities available in the local area in fields such as banking, retailing, investments, and insurance. The major has an active student-run Business Club which enhances students' learning experiences.


Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

In addition to College and general Business Administration requirements, Business Administration majors must complete the following courses:

Leadership
Researching the Social World
Applied Statistics and Quantitative Reasoning
Principles of Accounting I
Principles of Accounting II
Principles of Management
Principles of Financial Management I
Principles of Financial Management II
Business Law
Marketing Principles
Principles of Microeconomics
Principles of Macroeconomics
Three upper-level business electives or the MIS option


Management Information Systems Option

This option allows students to integrate information system courses into their business administration major in order to explore technology and its applications to business.  Given the technology demands of today's business world, the MIS option provides students with the opportunity to enhance their professional preparation and to achieve flexibility in career opportunities.  Requirements include: Programming Languages I and II, Computer Technologies, Advanced Spreadsheet Applications, Advanced Database Applications, Web Design and Research.


Minor in Business Administration

Students in any major may minor in Business Administration. Minor requirements include: Principles of Accounting I and II, Principles of Management, Principles of Marketing, and two upper-level business administration electives.


Minor in Management Information Systems

Students in any major may minor in Information Systems. Minor requirements include:  Technological Literacy plus five MIS courses (for a total of six courses) chosen to complement the major course of study.


Minor in Sport Management

Students in any major may minor in Sport Management. Minor requirements include: Sport Marketing, Sport Management, Economics of Sport or Business Administration Elective, Governance in Sport, and two upper-level sport electives.


Associate Degree in Business Administration

The associate degree in business administration is a two-year program designed to develop a solid foundation in business concepts and critical thinking skills. The curriculum also prepares students interested in continuing their studies with the goal of earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
