Scholarships for the 2008 Summer Institute
Florence Tyson Scholarships are available for the 2008 Summer Institute for music therapy students who are currently enrolled in a graduate music therapy program. The intent of the scholarships is to provide funding for graduate music therapy students who are potentially strong practitioners of music & imagery but who are financially overextended because of the cost of graduate school tuition. Scholarships may be granted for one of the following courses:
- Level I on May 28-31, 2008
- Level II on June 9-14, 2008
- Level I Practicum - Fall 2008 Semester
- Level II Practicum - Fall 2008 Semester
Applicants are evaluated upon their potential and/or excellence in the theory and clinical practice of psychiatric music therapy. Scholarship may be granted for partial or full tuition for one course. All materials must be received by May 1, 2008. Candidates must be enrolled by May 1, 2008.
1) Proof of graduate student or international graduate student status (current I.D.)
2) Official university transcript
3) Two letters of recommendation that identify potential to practice psychiatric music therapy, and to succeed in music & imagery training; one from the graduate program director; one from a clinical supervisor
4) Listing of coursework, practicum/internship, employment experiences related to psychiatric music therapy
5) Basic statement of financial situation: include yearly educational, and other, expenses; yearly earning or sources of income totals

Getting around Anna Maria College:
Housing & Food
- If you reserve housing for your course, your room will be in Alumni House, a small residence hall on the edge of our quiet campus. Single and double rooms are available; the rooms are small and basic, but comfortable, with a shared bathroom. The cost: $41 per night, single room; $35 per night double room; there is a $25 flat rate for linens/towels.
- Lunch is available at AMC's dining room Monday through Friday
- Kitchen facilities are available (refrigerator, stove, microwave) for your use
- Supermarkets, convenience stores, and variety of restaurants are available near the AMC campus, by car
Transportation
- AMC is equidistant, approximately 90 minutes from several airports: Boston, Providence, Hartford, and Manchester. For a shuttle service from the Boston or Providence airport directly to campus, click: Knight's Airport Limousine
- The AMC campus is small with 180 acres of beautiful forest surrounding it; on campus walking between the dining room, music building, and residence hall is minimal
- On-campus parking is avaialble
