What is Vocal Vacation?
Vocal Vacation, a two-week specialty choir day camp, is part of the Fay School Summer Day Camp program in the Metro West area near Boston, Massachusetts.
Vocal Vacation is a cross-cultural summer music day program where youth gather together in friendship and song. In the mornings, students will have in-depth music experiences, including daily group music classes taught with the Kodály approach, choral rehearsals, and other arts-related activities. After lunch, students will participate in the Fay School's traditional summer camp activities - including daily swim lessons.
Students perform in the 2009 Gala Concert:

For whom?
This exciting program is for young people ages 8-15 who love to sing. The goal is complete immersion in the joy of making music.
What is the philosophical basis of the Kodály concept?
Hungarian composer, Zoltan Kodály believed that singing should be the foundation of all music education. He felt that music, and the making of music was the birthright of every child. All children can learn to sing in tune by singing the music of their own culture. They then use that grounding and resulting music skills to explore music from around the world and back through time. Kodály felt a person could not be complete without music and that music serves to develop a person on all levels emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually.
