Army ROTC Scholarships

The Army Reserve Officers' Training Corps and Anna Maria College have formed a partnership that enables interested Anna Maria College students to participate in the program and earn a commission in the U.S. Army. There is no military commitment for freshmen or sophomore students who want to "check out" the program.

Army ROTC is a comprehensive program that emphasizes physical conditioning, mental toughness, high esprit d'corps, camaraderie, team building, and above all, leadership development. Young men and women in the program learn communications skills, develop a "drive-on" spirit and attitude, learn to handle life's stresses, meet new friends, and have fun doing it. Army ROTC students "NEVER QUIT."

The skills learned in Army ROTC transfer to the college classroom—cadets are alert, awake, and ready to accept assignments, and have the poise and confidence that set them apart. Special events like rappelling, field training exercises, leadership labs, confidence/obstacle courses, and formal social events are held throughout the year and augment academic and physical training classes held at WPI.

Outstanding students may qualify for Army ROTC scholarships. Scholarship recipients are students who demonstrate the Scholar, Athlete, Leader attributes and are above-average performers in high school. Army ROTC offers four-, three-, and two-year scholarships currently valued at over $32,000/year, $1200 annually for books, with a tax-free stipend starting at $300 each month for freshmen cadets. Upperclassmen who are already attending Anna Maria College may enter the program, as well. There are a variety of options available to motivated students.

Graduated cadets serve the country as second lieutenants with a choice of more than 16 career areas called "branches." Serving in the "profession of arms" and leading young American Soldiers as platoon leaders is what being a lieutenant is all about. Cadets may choose either serving on active duty or in the National Guard or Army Reserve. Either way, being a commissioned Army officer is an exciting and rewarding career and builds a great resume for your future.
