2010-08-30 08:31:56
Today we begin classes as we open the 2010-11 academic year at the College. There is much enthusiasm and optimism as we welcome 400 new students to our already robust student body. 5th year option

General Info Undergraduate Graduate Continuing Education Transfers International Nursing 5th year option

What is it?

The Fifth Year Option at Anna Maria College allows undergraduate students in good academic standing a unique opportunity to earn both their undergraduate and graduate degrees in five years.

The benefit to the student is twofold.

  • The two graduate courses will be counted toward fulfilling the undergraduate degree requirements.
  • If the student achieves a grade of B or better in each course, he/she will be admitted to the graduate school with an Advanced Standing status.
*Advance Standing: a student will be credited with having already earned 6 graduate credits, two courses, toward a graduate degree at Anna Maria College.

Students who wish to pursue the Fifth Year Option must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater and have earned 90 credits or more.

How does it work?

Students have an opportunity to plan undergraduate studies in a way that allows them to begin graduate work in the senior year. Students add two graduate courses to their senior coursework and it is these two courses that are placed on the master's transcript.

Upon successful graduation from the undergraduate program, the senior year coursework will be reviewed and a determination about admission into the graduate program will be made. Upon final admissions, the student will be sent a formal letter of acceptance into the graduate master's program.
