#AMCATFriday Photo Rescheduled to Feb. 12
Due to the College’s snow closing on Feb. 5, the #AMCATFriday group photo opportunity has been rescheduled to Friday, Feb. 12 at Noon in the Information Commons. Join President Mary Lou Retelle, Athletics, fellow students, faculty and staff by showing up in your favorite AMCAT gear. In the meantime, post/tweet pics of yourself donning Anna Maria garb on Fridays, using the hashtag #AMCATFriday.


#AMCTurns70: Seventy Points of Progress
Happy 70th birthday, Anna Maria College! As a way to celebrate the College’s seven decades of progress since its founding in 1946, look for daily historical factoids and other points of interest to be included in Insider, through Twitter 
and Facebook and highlighted on annamaria.edu/AMCTurns70 beginning this Saturday, Feb. 13. As we count down to the official anniversary on April 23, 2016, join in the celebration by posting your images of your tenure at the College on your social media accounts and be sure to use the hashtag--#AMCTurns70.


Leadership Challenge Kickoff Rescheduled to Feb. 29
The first program of the recently announced Student Leadership Challenge was rescheduled due to weather from Feb. 8 to Feb. 29. The challenge will now kick off on Monday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Zecco Performing Arts Center, featuring speaker presentations and other leadership-building programs. Join us!

 

No Classes on Monday, Feb. 15
There will be no classes and administrative offices will be closed on Monday, Feb. 15 in observance of President’s Day.


Remembering Emily Blouin
The Anna Maria College community is invited to a special Mass on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at Noon in the Madore Chapel to honor the memory of Emily Blouin. Emily, a freshman Nursing student, passed away in an automobile accident earlier this year. Counseling and Campus Ministry services are available to all members of the College community during this sorrowful time.


Paxton PD Hosts RAD Training
for Students
The Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System is a women-only self-defense program. Classes start Wednesday, Mar. 16 at 7 p.m. Space is limited, so students should register before
Mar. 9 in the Public Safety Office (Foundress Hall).


Success Center Director Publishes Third Book
Dennis Vanasse, director of the Student Success Center, has published his third children’s book. Can’t Sit Still, a story about a young boy’s struggle with ADHD, has hit the shelves and was recently blogged about. Read more here. 

Confections & Cadences Performance Feb. 12
Start off your Valentine’s Day weekend with an evening of music, community, love and food. The concert will be held in Payer Concert Hall at 7 p.m. Tickets are $3 for general admission and $1 if dressed in Valentine’s Day-themed attire.


Breaking Bread and Conversation during Black History Month
Join the Office of Multicultural Affairs to raise diversity and inclusion awareness on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the Southeast Dining Hall. The dinner and dialogue event is in partnership with the Black Business & Professionals Association and will include a workshop covering The Black Lives Matter Movement, diversity in the media and recommended action to positively impact diversity and inclusion.


Celebrate the #AMCGraduates16 Countdown Feb. 19
The 100 Days Party is next Friday at
9 p.m. All students are welcome to celebrate this special countdown and reminisce on moments that have led up to this point.


CPR Challenge: Are You Up for It?Join the Student Nurse Association and learn Hands-Only CPR on Feb. 17 and 24 in the Campus Center Lobby from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. SNA members and Nursing faculty will be on hand to demonstrate how to properly apply life-saving compressions. On Sunday, AMCAB hosted a Super Bowl party in the Hub. At halftime, students took part in the hot wing challenge. The challenge was who could eat the most in ten minutes. Congratulations to Derrick Casey ’18 (right) for winning!

Thank you to everyone who cheered on the Special Olympians Jan. 31. Please join us again on Feb. 21 for another Fans in the Stands basketball event from Noon to 4 p.m. in the Fuller Activities Center. Come enjoy raffle prizes, free pizza and fun!
