A Message from David Shea, Director of Athletics
What an exciting time to be a part of Anna Maria College! The college has begun to implement its Strategic Plan:Vision 2012, and a big part of this new vision is athletics.
AMC is a Division III member of the NCAA, the ECAC and The Commonwealth Coast Conference. By the fall of 2009, Anna Maria College will offer 15 varsity sports, including the College's first ever football team. Other sports include baseball and softball, volleyball, golf, cross country, field hockey, soccer, basketball, tennis and lacrosse.
Everyone at AMC is buzzing with excitement about all of our athletic programs. Whether you’re new to AMC, a current student athlete, a coach or one of our esteemed alumni, no one can help but notice all of the positive and new changes being implemented at the College. It is truly a wonderful time to be involved with athletics at AMC!
If you have any questions or need to get in touch with the athletic department, please call 508-849-3446. All the best.
Sincerely,
David A. Shea ’93, ‘03

AMCATS blank Regis, 4-0
PAXTON, Mass.-- Junior George Markopoulos (Worcester, Mass.) had two goals and an assist as the Anna Maria College men’s soccer team defeated Regis College, 4-0, in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup at Klingle Field on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.
Markopoulos set the tone early, scoring an unassisted goal in just the third minute of play to put the AMCATS ahead, 1-0. The junior forward struck again in the 28th minute, finding the back of the net off an excellent feed from Michael Schofield (Auburn, Mass.). Sophomore Corey Stenquist (Woburn, Mass.) finished the first half scoring with an unassisted goal in the 37th minute as the two teams headed into the break, 3-0.
Senior Brandon Correia (Tuanton, Mass.) tacked on another goal when he took a pass from Markopoulos and beat Regis goalkeeper Andrew LaMacchia (Lynn, Mass.) to make the final score 4-0.
LaMacchia made several terrific stops to keep the Pride in the game, and finished the day with 15 saves.
The AMCAT offense was relentless, outshooting the Pride 51-2. Markopouls led the way with 10 shots, including five shots on goal.
The win improves Anna Maria to 4-9 overall and 3-5 in the TCCC, moving them into playoff contention. The AMCATS will host UNE on Thursday at 3:00 pm. With the loss, the Pride are now 0-13 in their inaugural season, and are currently 0-8 in conference play. Regis will return to action on Tuesday when they host Curry College at 4:00 pm.
