Anna Maria College attended the The Washington Center's gala paying tribute to leadership in higher education.

This year’s Gala raised more than $480,000 for student scholarships that will be offered for hundreds of students throughout the 2016-2017 academic year at the Washington Center.

On Sunday, September 25, Anna Maria College hosted the Worcester Student Government Association conference.

The College welcomed 40 student leaders as well as several community and business leaders. The conference discussed the current and post-graduation roles of students in the greater Worcester community, effective ways to improve student leadership and promoted the resources Worcester has to offer. It also sparked a dialogue between college student representatives looking to make real-world, applicable change on their campuses and beyond.

Anna Maria College President Mary Lou Retelle is pleased to announce the hiring of Serge DeBari as the Interim Director of Athletics.

DeBari comes to Anna Maria with over 40 years of experience as a coach and administrator at local colleges, having most recently served as head men’s basketball coach at Assumption College for five seasons.

“Mr. DeBari is well known in the Worcester community and we are fortunate to welcome him to our campus,” said Retelle. “He brings a strong energy, leadership, and vision to our athletic department and we are excited for him to move us forward."

“I have long respected Anna Maria’s athletic programs and I am excited to join the campus community. I am looking forward to being part of AMCAT Nation and sharing what Anna Maria can offer others,” said Debari. "It is a wonderful opportunity for me.”

DeBari retired from coaching at Assumption in 2011. Prior to that, he spent six years in the admissions department at Assumption, serving as both the director and associate director of the department. DeBari also spent 13 years at Babson College where he was the head men’s basketball coach and the associate director of athletics.

Karoline Ciance
Anna Maria College is proud to announce sophomore Karoline Ciance has received the Girl Scout Gold Award, the highest honor in the Girl Scouts of the USA.

A Girl Scout is only eligible for the award after completing a "journey and a "Take Action" project that is more than 80 hours long and benefits the community locally or globally. Ciance's "Take Action" project was entitled "Be Confident BeYoutiful” which concentrated on low self-esteem in women. As part of the project, she specifically took a look at women who were part of low-income families and their inability to afford high-end makeup and clothes. She presented to women in the Worcester community at churches and created a YouTube channel with tutorial videos.
