Welcome from the Vice President for Student Affairs

The Division of Student Affairs provides a co-curricular experience that will complement your classroom experience and will create a complete educational experience that highlights the mission of the College. The guiding philosophy of our programs and services can best be summed up with two words: responsibility and respect.

While I believe that you are responsible for your own success, I also believe that it is our responsibility to provide the support and services necessary to support you as you strive for your goals. The Learning Center, Health Services, Career Services and the Counseling Center all provide high quality services and programs that will benefit you. All you need to do is take the responsibility to visit these offices and their pages on the website, and attend their programs to make sure you get the most out of what they have to offer.

We have also developed a living/learning environment that will not only be entertaining, but will also prepare you for life after college. For resident students, the Office of Residence Life provides you a safe environment designed to support your academic endeavors. You will also have the opportunity to meet, and to live with students from backgrounds different from yours. It is here that you may find yourself developing a new respect for other people and cultures.

For all students, we have a vibrant activities program that centers on student organizations, student government and programs that are planned and developed by students. Once again, not only are these programs entertaining, they are also excellent opportunities to develop and refine your leadership skills. Students, faculty and staff all participate in the Campus Ministry programs on campus, which are consistent with our mission and foster respect for others and the environment. The Office of Multicultural Affairs does much more than address the unique needs of our multicultural students; the office also develops unique educational programs that promote diversity and inclusiveness.

In short, we have a lot to offer, and I hope you will take advantage of all of it. Remember, your success is your responsibility, and we’re here to help.

I’d also like you to know that I am always available to meet with you and discuss whatever’s on your mind.

See you soon,

Andrew O. Klein
Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Retention
