Anna Maria announces that Dick Hoyt, the elder member of Team Hoyt, will speak at the College’s annual fall Academic Convocation scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in AMC’s Fuller Activities Center on its Paxton campus. Mr. Hoyt will address the theme of this year’s program: overcoming obstacles.

As a team, the Hoyts have competed in over 1100 athletic events in the last 34 years. They have run in 70 marathons, including Boston, and have also competed in 252 triathlons, six of them being Ironman distance events
The senior Mr. Hoyt is a retired Lt. Colonel, having served in the military for 35 years. He travels the country doing corporate and community presentations, educating the public about disability awareness and promoting the Team Hoyt motto, “Yes You Can.” Through his presentation, Mr. Hoyt shares his lifelong commitment to changing attitudes and educating others on the world of disabilities. He and his family have seen an impact from their efforts in the area of public attitude toward people with disabilities.
