New for Fall 2012
The changing credit markets for both large and small businesses, the increasing personal wealth of U.S. citizens and the focus on personal financial management has elevated the need for individuals to become more knowledgeable about managing their companies and their own personal financial resources. This has created a demand for professionals who can both provide credit and manage the financial resources of others. Increasingly risk management strategies for both individuals and businesses involve insurance in both long and short term financial planning and management. The field of financial services and personal financial management has undergone significant changes. Traditional boundaries between the securities industry, insurance, and banking have been blurred or obliterated with fundamental changes in federal laws and regulatory rulings. Many organizations now complete in each of these fields. Because of these changes it is increasingly important for providers of these services to find and develop individuals with the skills to ethically meet customer needs and provide the next generation of management. Students who wish to balance classroom theory with real-life experience are encouraged to pursue one of the many internship opportunities available in the local area.
