8 - 8 - 8 Method of Time Management
 
With 24 hours in a day to divvy up accordingly, the 8 - 8 - 8 Method of time management provides a framework for effectively managing one's time. College students face many challenges during their transition and adjustment to college expectations. One of the most commonly identified struggles is effective time management. This strategy provides a structured way to allot time throughout the day.  
 
8 Hours Academics
This includes classroom time as well as time spent studying outside of class. Depending on the day the amount of time spent in class vs. outside studying may vary, but the goal of 8 hours a day spent on academic work allows students to budget their time appropriately. Especially when working on longterm projects as well as upkeep studying. Students may break up this 8 hours and spend it on any of the following:
  • Reviewing Notes
  • Conducting Research for upcoming papers
  • Completing homework assignments including - readings, papers, problem sets, etc.
  • Time spent in the Learning Center receiving extra help in a specific subject area
8 Hours Leisure
Leisure time includes social activities, athletic committments, and other time spent not engaged in academic committments.
8 Hours sleeping
