Anna Maria College Students to Unveil Life-Size G.I. Joe
February 14, 2013

Anna Maria College announces that its chapter of the national organization, Active Minds, will be hosting a panel discussion on eating disorders as it reveals its life-size model of G.I. Joe on February 25, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the  College’s Zecco Performing Arts Center.

Last year, students associated with the Active Minds club created a life-size Barbie and this year in an attempt to bring more to the conversation, a life-size G.I. Joe was created.   Experts in the field: Cynthia Graber, Ph.D, Anna Sweeny, RD, Renee Bazinet, Ph.D., Laura Roias, MSW, LICSW, and Irene Tolman,  MA will participate in a panel discussion during the reveal event to examine how to change a culture that reinforces impossible body image stereotypes and how to support friends and family members struggling with disordered eating or body image.

The reveal of G.I. Joe and panel discussion are free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Laura Anderson at landerson@annamaria.edu.
