In August 2009, Andrew T. McCarthy, B.S., M.A., Ph.D., joined the faculty of Anna Maria College bringing with him a passion for service and academic excellence. Dr. McCarthy, with his keen interest in theology and religious studies, as well as theological pedagogy, has authored and made presentations on Spirituality, Psychology and Religion, Religion and Culture, Franciscan Studies, and Online Learning. His book, Francis of Assisi as Artist of the Spiritual Life: An Object Relations Theory Perspective was published by University Press of America in 2010.
Dr. McCarthy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Nautical Science from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York. His Master of Arts degree in Theology was granted by Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, and he earned a Ph.D. in Theology and Religious Studies from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Dr. McCarthy is currently an assistant professor of humanities and theology at AMC.
