Counseling Services provides individual, supportive counseling to assist students as they pursue educational and personal goals. Counseling is an educational process. Students acquire new skills to increase their level of self-awareness and gain new perspectives in regard to relationships with others. The ultimate goal of this work is to enhance the quality of the individual’s life. Initial assessment and evaluation are generally made in the first two sessions. For those students in need of more intensive on-going psychotherapy, referrals to practitioners and resources in the community are provided.
The cost for supportive counseling is covered by tuition. Long term or intensive psychotherapy is not covered. In those instances, when referrals to outside resources are necessary, the cost for such therapy is assumed by the student or by his/her insurance carrier. |
