The new director of AMC’s Social Work Program, Jude Gonsalvez, Ph.D., joined the Anna Maria team in July 2011 as an accomplished social work practitioner, researcher and educator. With a professional background in higher education that spans over two decades, Dr. Gonsalvez has taught master’s level courses in international social work, and social work administration and research, and has led international study tours to his homeland of India. A respected researcher and advocate for social justice, Dr. Gonsalvez has also undertaken numerous studies including research on the resiliency of women survivors of the 2004 Tsunami in South India, PTSD among Tsunami victims, and problems confronted by adult children of alcoholics.
Dr. Gonsalvez received his Bachelor of General Law, from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai India, a Bachelor of Arts from The American College, Madurai, India, and his Master of Social Work from Loyal College, Chennai, India. He earned a Ph.D. in Social Work and Public Administration from Madras Christian College and has previously taught at Loyola College ( India), Madras Christian College( India), Bridgewater State College and Marywood University in the US.
