Mary Lou Retelle began her role as Anna Maria College's Interim President on July 1, 2014. Interim President Retelle was promoted following three years of service as AMC's Executive Vice President. As Executive Vice President since 2011, she oversaw the college functions related to admission and financial aid, student life and athletic programs.
"Interim President Retelle is a seasoned administrative executive with in-depth knowledge of Anna Maria campus dynamics and a keen understanding of its many opportunities and challenges. The board's unanimous decision on her appointment underscores our confidence in her ability to lead the institution through this critical transition," said Sr. Yvette E. Bellerose, SSA, former chair of the board of trustees for AMC. AMC Trustees are currently directing a national search effort for AMC's eleventh president.
Including her three years at AMC, Interim President Retelle brings to this presidential appointment nearly 25 years of experience as an executive administrator at academic institutions. Most recently, she served as an enrollment consultant for Suffolk University following a total of 15 years at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. Positions held at Merrimack include Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services, Vice President for Enrollment Management, and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid. She also served as Director of Admission and Enrollment Management at State University of New York, Potsdam from 1991 to 1994.
Interim President Retelle obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Merrimack College and her Master of Education in Student Personnel Services from Northeastern University in Boston.
