Father Traore is a Roman Catholic missionary of the Society of the Missionaries of Africa in Burkina Faso. The son of a Muslim mother and a Catholic father, Fr. Traore has dedicated his life and ministry to promoting interreligious appreciation as a means to peace and reconciliation around the world.
This fall, he is joining the community at Hartford Seminary as a Fulbright Scholar of the Interfaith Community Action Program where he is speaking at numerous churches and faith and community organizations.
Fr. Traore has studied, lived, and worshiped in interfaith communities around the world. Although his geographical focus of concern is Central Africa, the depth of understanding and passion for his work derives from time spent in Burkina Faso, Rwanda, Kenya, Egypt, Italy, and India. With this global perspective, Fr. Traore believes that the world is best served by exploring other religions from a spiritual perspective, with an eye toward what is true and holy in each.
After departing Hartford in December, Fr. Traore will complete his Master of Arts degree at the Institute for the Study of Religions and Cultures/Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. He will later return to Africa as a promoter of interreligious dialogue in Central Africa.
