Almeida records 6th shutout in 0-0 tie

HENNIKER, N.H. - Senior goalkeeper Karine Almeida (Brockton, Mass.) made 15 saves as Anna Maria College battled New England College to a scoreless tie in a double-overtime The Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup on Tuesday evening.

The Pilgrims took 32 shots but couldn't get any past Almeida, who now has recorded 120 saves on the season. The AMC goalie is also now tied for the conference-lead with sixth shutouts.

NEC was led offensively by senior captain Debbie Lyons (Wilmington, Mass.) and sophomore Colby Grant (Lynn, Mass.) who both registered three shots on goal.  AMC’s Alicia Savo (Mount Vernon, N.H.) recorded the only two shots on goal for the AMCATS.

With the tie the Pilgrims' record now sits at 4-5-1 overall and 3-2-1 in TCCC play, while the AMCATS’ move to 3-5-4 overall and 0-5-1 in the conference. The Pilgrims return to action on Thursday, October 9 as they host in-state rival Daniel Webster College in a 3:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.  The AMCATS continue conference play on Saturday as they host TCCC opponent Regis College at 12:00 p.m.
