Help Marines serving in Iraq
10/14/2008
Campus Life
Residence Life will be holding a collection for Marines currently serving in Iraq. We will be putting drop off boxes in Madonna Hall, South Hall, the Learning Center, and outside the office of Student Affairs.
Items we are looking for are:
Food:
· Individual packets of flavored coffee creamer
· Mrs. Dash. There are many different flavors and it's a nice change from plain salt
· Powdered Crystal Light. It's sugar free and comes in many flavors
· Instant coffee
· Powdered drinks like Gatorade, hot chocolate, kool-aide, lemonade mix etc.
· Torengo tortilla chips. They come in a plastic container rather than a bag
· Tuna in the "fresh pouch". It doesn't require draining so it's much easier to eat in the field/barracks/rack
· Slim Jims
· Crackers and Easy (spray) Cheese
· Single servings of bagged chips
· Candy, of course. M & M's are great, hard candy-anything that won't melt
· Bubble gum
· Applesauce, pudding or fruit cups with the pop-off lids
Fun stuff:
· board games
· disposable cameras
· Silly Putty
· Foam footballs and basketballs, the miniature size
· A frisbeee
· A hacky sack
Practical Stuff:
· A&D Ointment. It's in the baby care section. It's used for "wet" rashes--like the kind someone gets from their waistband rubbing against them for days at a time when they can't stop to bathe or change or from wearing their boots for 3 days without taking them off. It's very helpful
· Chapstick
· Clorox wipes
· Razors, shaving cream
· Foot powder
· Shampoo, conditioner
· After shave lotion
· Soap/body wash
· Mouth wash
· Deodorant
· Individual face wash wipes
· Gel insoles
· A small battery operated fan
· Eye drops
The list could go on and on. We are trying to make them as comfortable as possible. Any help would be great! If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Cash, ext 271.
