On November 20, 2008 from 8:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Anna Maria College’s Molly Bish Center for the Protection of Children and the Elderly will hold a conference entitled A Team Approach: A Broader View of Elder Abuse Response and Prevention. Working with the Worcester County Elder Abuse Roundtable, this conference takes a unique look at the issues surrounding elder abuse from the perspective of those who work in the field. The keynote Speaker will be Secretary Michael Festa of the Executive Office of Elder Affairs who will discuss the steps his administration is taking to fight the growing problem of elder abuse in the community, as well as his future plans. The conference will also feature law enforcement, social workers and elder service agencies participating in a fictitious case of elder abuse describing how they need to interact and work with each other during this type of situation. In addition, a workshop series will cover issues, such as financial exploitation, elder abuse and neglect 101, domestic violence and sexual assault, cultural understanding and legal matters in the probate court.
