Baseball: Sophomore Jeff Kodys was named to the All-TCCC Second Team this week. Kodys had an excellent sophomore campaign as the AMCATS’ starting catcher this year. He finished the season among the top five on the team in eight offensive categories including batting average (.327), runs (20), doubles (7), home runs (3), runs batted in (26), total bases (52), slugging (.473), and on base percentage (.383). He had nine multi-hit games on the year and drove in multiple runs seven times. During a four-game stretch in late March, including a sweep of a TCCC doubleheader versus Gordon College, Kodys went 9-16 with six runs scored and eight RBI.
Softball: Sophomore Sarah Boyda was selected as a member of the All-TCCC Second Team this week, while freshman Mary Moroski earned Honorable Mention. As the leadoff hitter for the AMCATS, Boyda led the club in batting average (.283), runs (26), hits (34), and stolen bases (12). She strung together an eight-game hits streak in April and ended the season by collecting at least one hit in 14 of her last 16 games, including 10 of her last 11. Always a menace on the base paths, Boyda scored multiple runs in eight games and was caught stealing just once all season.
Moroski had a very impressive freshman season for the AMCATS, leading the club in home runs (4), triples (2), runs batted in (22), total bases (50), walks (18), slugging (.481), and on base percentage (.397). After a slow start, Moroski collected a hit in 19 of the team’s final 25 games. She was selected as the TCCC Rookie of the Week on April 13th after compiling a .667 batting average and a 1.167 slugging percentage. With a playoff berth still possible, Mary ended the season on a high note, leading the AMCATS to a sweep over Gordon College by going 5-for-8 with six RBI.
Women’s Lacrosse: The women’s lacrosse team lost to Framingham State College, 15-2, in their season finale this week. Sophomore Crystal Torres scored both goals for the AMCATS, while goalkeeper Katherine Chousa made 18 saves. All-in-all it was a very successful inaugural season for the AMCATS, who not only showed they could compete, but also captured two victories.
Men’s Tennis: The men’s tennis team fell to an undefeated Mitchell College team, 7-2, in their season finale on Wednesday. Freshman Adam Williamson finished his year on a positive note by winning his sixth singles match of the year, evening his record to 6-6 overall. The men’s tennis team had a very impressive inaugural season which saw them win three matches.
