AMC Student Experience

Admissions Process

Admissions Process Financial Aid Advising Tips

Transfer students constitute a large and valuable component of the Anna Maria College community. Due to their educational, career, and geographic backgrounds, transfer students add a welcome diversity to the undergraduate population.  Anna Maria accepts a large number of transfer students each semester.

Requirements for Transfer Admission

Undergraduate students who have attended an accredited college beyond high school graduation may be accepted for admission to AMC provided they meet admission requirements. Falsification or omission of application information will void admission to AMC. Students with less than 12 transferable hours will be reviewed by their high school transcript and SAT or ACT scores. The more college courses the student has completed, the greater the emphasis given to college credentials in the admission decision.

Students interested in transferring to Anna Maria College should submit the following:
·         Completed application form and a $40 nonrefundable application fee in the form of a check or money order made payable to Anna Maria College. The $40 application fee is waived for applications submitted online at www.annamaria.edu.
·         Official copies of all college or university transcripts.
·         Copy of final high school transcript or GED.
·         Students with less than 12 college credit hours completed must submit official results of SAT or ACT scores.

Students interested in transferring to Anna Maria College are encouraged to submit the following:
·         A letter of recommendation from a teacher, Dean, former guidance counselor, or clergy member.
·         A 250- to 500-word personal statement of educational objectives.
·         Campus visit- please call the Office of Admissions to schedule a campus visit.

Transferring Credits

Anna Maria College accepts transfer credits received from fully accredited colleges and universities.  AMC will accept up to 60 transfer credits which is equivalent to two years of college coursework and junior year class standing.  Students must complete a minimum of 60 credits at Anna Maria College or within the Worcester Consortium of Colleges in order to earn a degree from AMC.

Anna Maria College generally grants transfer credit for courses taken at other colleges or universities that correspond to or are comparable with those offered at Anna Maria. Students must receive a grade of C or better to receive transfer credit. The final decision regarding credits acceptable for transfer to Anna Maria College is made by the appropriate Academic Department.

If you are accepted to Anna Maria College as a transfer student, you may request a preliminary transfer credit evaluation.  Otherwise, you will be notified of your official transfer credits when you arrive on campus for new student orientation and meet with your academic advisor.

Acceptance Reactivation for Transfers

Anna Maria College accepts applications from students who have previously applied to the college.  Students may reactivate their original application if they applied within the last two years.  The following information will need to be submitted in order to complete the file:

·         Official college transcripts from all colleges attended.

·         Official final high school transcript (including final senior grades and date of graduation) if not already received.
