How do archaeologists figure out who lived here in ancient times? How can they tell the difference between an archaeological site and a modern crime scene?
Students will learn about the fundamentals of archaeology and will participate in survey methods for locating, documenting, and excavating areas on the Anna Maria College campus.
Children ages 9-14 years of age (depending on session)
Session 1 is open to children ages 9-11 years old and runs from July 23-27, 2018. Session 2 is open to children ages 12-14 years old and runs from July 30 - August 3, 2018. Each session runs daily from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
Instruction will take place on the Anna Maria College campus in Paxton, Massachusetts.
The Archaeology Academy costs $275 per student per session; a lunch and a snack is provided daily.
Drop-off and Pick-up
Safety during this time remains especially important. Please ensure that all people authorized to drop off and pick up your child are listed clearly on the registration form. Please expect that a photo ID may be required to pick up your child. If someone other than those listed on the authorization form need to pick up your child, please inform the program instructor in advance.

Children are expected to be dropped off between 8:30 am and 9:00 am at the designated area, St. Joseph Science Building (which will be marked on the campus map). Children arriving after 9:00 am must inform the program instructor at least a day in advance and will report directly to the morning session. Please notify the program instructor (978-518-1457) if your child will be late or absent.

Children should be picked up no later than 3:30 p.m. at the designated pick-up area, which will be marked on campus and is the same for drop-off. Please remember that people picking up your child must be authorized ahead of time.

Clothes to Wear
Comfortable clothes suitable for play and hands on activities - Sneakers for outdoor activities or other closed toe shoes are required (No flip-flops or sandals!) - Dress in layers, as outdoor activities in the morning can be chilly.

Sunblock is essential for outdoor activities. Please label with name of the student.

Please consider not sending cell phones or tablets to the Archaeology Academy. If parents feel that this is a necessity, advise students that they will only be allowed to use them during lunch.
