Dr. Shannon Cassidy Cousineau, DSW, LICSW, Assistant Professor of Social Work, joined the faculty of Anna Maria College in July, 2018. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of practice experience, with specialization in crisis intervention. Dr. Cassidy Cousineau has practiced social work with a number of populations including children and youth in protective services and foster care, children and youth with disabilities, service men and women in the United States Navy, domestic and intimate partner violence, and medical social work and hospice. She has worked as an administrator and assistant program director of outpatient and community based services, fatherhood programs and emergency mental health. She is a responder for the Riverside Community Care Trauma Response team, certified as Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and in Psychological First Aid, as well as previously been an instructor for Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Cultural Competency, and First Aid/CPR. Dr. Cassidy Cousineau has taught as an adjunct professor at the Bachelor of Social Work level and has facilitated many trainings regarding risk assessment and Restorative Practices. Dr. Cassidy Cousineau has been active in community and agency service as well. She has been a Human Rights Advocate, cancer committee member and sat on several accreditation teams at various organizations, served as the Secretary for the Washington County Coalition for Children, taught adult education classes and been a Junior Achievement Volunteer. Additionally, Dr. Cassidy Cousineau is very active in her church. Dr. Cassidy Cousineau is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Council on Social Work Education, and the North American Association of Christian Social Workers.
