International Student Application Process
International students are a uniquely valuable part of the Anna Maria College community, enriching our academic and social life with a global perspective.
To be considered for admission and matriculation into a Graduate Program, a potential student must apply for a degree or certificate by completing the following requirements:
1. Completed Application
  • Essay/Personal Statement (minimum 500 words)
  • Official Transcript(s)
  • Resume
  • Two Letters of Recommendation

2. Academic Record
All international students must submit an official transcript showing successful completion of an earned bachelor degree from a regionally accredited United States college or university, or an equivalent of a US Bachelor degree from a nationally accredited institution outside the United States

"Official" means that the school records are certified by an appropriate school official, such as the principal or registrar.

Note: If your transcript does not match this recognized list of Bachelor degree equivalencies you must have your transcript evaluated by an independent foreign credential evaluation service.  When requesting evaluation you should specify a course-by-course evaluation in American semester hours with specific notation as to those courses completed at the graduate level, and request that the evaluating agency state the highest level of education completed.
3. English Proficiency
**All international student applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate their English proficiency. For students whose native language is not English, proof of English is required. Exceptions for submitting proof of English proficiency are:
  • They have received a degree from an accredited college or university in the US within the last two (2) years
  • They are permanent residents of the US (and must submit a copy of the Permanent Resident card, front and back), and have had two (2) years of education at the secondary or post-secondary level where the primary language of instruction was English.
  • Their first/native language is English and they are from one of the following countries:
  • American Samoa
  • Australia
  • Bahamas
  • Barbados
  • Belize
  • Bermuda
  • British West Indies
  • Canada
  • England
  • Guam
  • Ireland
  • Mauritius
  • New Zealand
  • Scotland
  • South Africa
  • Virgin Islands
  • Wales
There are multiple ways to satisfy this requirement. Applications should submit results of one of the following: TOEFL, IELTS, the Pearson Test of English (PTE) exam or Cambridge Advanced English Exam (CAE).  The recommended scores for direct admission for graduate degree programs are as follows. TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.5, PTE 59 or higher. CAE 176.

The admissions committee also looks closely at the academic coursework that you have completed and your overall commitment to this work. In some instances, exceptions to the listed scores are made. These exceptions are tied directly to evidence of strong achievement in your day to day academic work in the secondary school that you have attended. Results of the testing that you complete that are lower than the suggested scores may require you to take supplemental English instruction with UEI.
4. Personal Statement
All international students must submit a 500-word personal statement describing their educational goals and explaining why they wish to pursue an Education in the United States.
5. Certified Financial Documentation (if choosing to study at Anna Maria College)
All international students who wish to study at Anna Maria College must submit certified financial documentation from a financial institution proving that they have reliable financial support available to cover the cost of all living and school expenses while studying in the United States.

*Note:  All international students will be issued a SEVIS I-20 form by the college in order to study at Anna Maria College. The college will issue the form to you after receiving all of your Admission Requirements.
