Linda Aronson has been the Nurse Practitioner and Director of Health and Counseling Services at Anna Maria College since 2008. Linda received her MSN, NP from Simmons College in 1992. As a Nurse Practitioner, she provides evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of illness, ongoing and follow-up care, and health and nutrition consultations.  Linda has provided patient care in a number of different settings. Prior to coming to Anna Maria College she worked at UMass Memorial Health Center, University Campus in the Vascular Medicine Division and at Fallon Clinic in the OBGYN Department where she provided routine and follow-up sick visits and procedures, STI consultations and treatments and screened for and supplied information for medical issues and concerns.  Linda enjoys working with the college population and believes in quality care and the individual needs of the students at Anna Maria College.

Lissie Bates-Haus, Ph.D.

Psychologist, Counseling Services

Dr. Lissie Bates-Haus joined the Anna Maria Health and Counseling Center as a therapist in August of 2016. She works with students generally on an individual level, providing evaluation, crisis intervention and on-going therapy around such topics as trauma, depression, anxiety, developmental and relationship concerns, sexuality and gender identity, and executive function, as well as offering consultation and support to the larger Anna Maria community. Lissie holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University and an M.A. in Counseling from the University of San Francisco. Licensed as a psychologist in Massachusetts since 2005, Lissie has worked with clients in a number of different settings, including college counseling centers, out-patient clinics, and the VA, providing individual, couples and group counseling.

William Hughes, MA/CAGS, LADC

William M. Hughes, MA/CAGS, LADC  holds a Master Degree and a Certificate of Graduates Studies from Assumption College in Rehabilitation Counseling.  Bill is a LADC (Mass.- License Alcohol and Drug Counselor) as well as a LRC (Mass.- Rehabilitation Counselor).   He has worked as a counselor in medical and outpatient settings.  Bill has been the Director of Driver Alcohol Education programs and a highly successful treatment program in a correctional facility.  Bill is also a CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional) who has worked in medical and major manufacturing settings. “It is easy to appreciate the array of stressors, varying anxieties and daily challenges that students have to learn to navigate on their college careers.  The Counseling Center is a place where they can find the support and guidance to assist them in this journey”.

Leonard Waice, D.O.

Campus Physician

Leonard Waice, D.O. has been the college physician for Anna Maria College since 2008.  He received his medical degree from the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine and his residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center Family Practice at the Barre Regional Family Health Center.  He worked for over 20 years at Wachusett Family Practice and currently is a full-time physician for Carewell Urgent Care in Worcester, MA.  Dr. Waice is also the college physician for Becker College and school physician for the Wachusett Regional School district. He has been a team physician for several local colleges and high schools. Dr. Waice has an interest in sports medicine.

Karen Morrissey

Karen Morrissey joined Anna Maria College in the spring of 2008.  She received her MBA and a Graduate Certificate in Health Informatics from Anna Maria College and a BS in Health Education from Worcester State University. Karen worked as a certified instructor for the American Red Cross for 5 years. She has over 25 years of experience working in health and research environments and has worked on projects such as binge drinking and health and wellness studies at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.  Her special interests include mindfulness based stress reduction, stress reduction techniques and nutrition.
