Job Description:

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will perform a variety of activities involving the dissemination of financial aid information to students; awarding and processing of Federal, State and institutional aid and to perform routine tasks in the maintenance and operations of all student loan programs.

 

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide information and assistance to students regarding available financial aid programs, such as grants, loans, scholarships, and work study jobs.
  • Review financial aid application forms for accuracy and completeness; secure additional information from students as necessary.
  • Process financial aid applications, perform need analysis and verify student files.
  • Determine student eligibility for financial aid based upon established criteria pertinent to each program.
  • Occasional weekend hours during scheduled Admissions events.
  • Manage all facets of federal, private and institutional loan programs ensuring program integrity and compliance with all Federal, State and institutional regulations and policies.
  • Manage the electronic processes for all loan programs, including the transmission of loan data files with Department of Education and EdConnect, NSLDS transfer monitoring and issue resolution, private loan certification, origination and disbursement.
  • Maintain private loan lender information and necessary Federal Direct Loan disclosures.
  • Complete monthly and annual reconciliation of all loan programs.
  • Work closely with other campus offices and outside constituencies to resolve discrepancies and assist students.
  • Develop and maintain financial literacy initiatives on campus, including advising borrowers on financial aid policies and procedures related to loans, financial management and repayment issues.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a financial aid office.

 

Knowledge:

Full understanding of the financial aid process and Title IV Regulations. Additional knowledge of general accounting procedures, spreadsheets and data analysis is preferred.
