Job Description:

Anna Maria College, a leading Catholic institution located in Central Massachusetts, invites applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of Theology. The position responsibilities include: teaching four courses per semester in undergraduate theology with primary responsibility to support the General Education Curriculum, engaging in scholarly activity (research, conferences, publications), advising students, and serving on college committees.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. in Theology (ABD candidates will be considered; PhD must be completed within 1 year of start date). Applicants must apply for and retain the Mandatum in good standing from the Bishop of Worcester. Preferred applicants will have previous teaching experience in a college or university setting, commit to the development of a teaching and scholarly agenda consistent with the College’s Catholic mission and values (, and demonstrate an ability to contribute to the broader programs of the College. 

The Theology program provides support for the General Education core, offers two B.A. options (in Theology and in Catholic studies) as well as an M.A. in Pastoral Ministry, and prepares deacon candidates and lay leaders for the Worcester Diocese. The successful candidate will teach the required Introduction to Theology course and other upper division courses depending upon need and expertise. Courses are offered in both on-the-ground and online formats.
