RE: Nelson Mandela
Former South African President Nelson Mandela passed away yesterday at age 95. As one of the greatest political and social justice figures of our time, the anti-apartheid activist, leader, and Nobel Peace Prize winner was a beloved figure not only in South Africa but around the world. His courage during a time of apartheid not only created positive change in his country, but it also inspired the world.
In death, Mandela is celebrated for what he accomplished in life. His actions and accomplishments will live on and continue to inspire those who work towards justice everywhere.
As encouraged by President Obama, Anna Maria College will commemorate Mr. Mandela’s passing by flying flags at half-staff through December 9th.
I invite you to join me in prayer for the Mandela Family, the people of South Africa and for all those who work for peace every day.
