Mission Statement
The Anna Maria College Sports Medicine Department, along with the University of Massachusetts Sports Medicine Clinic Hahnemann Campus, provides traditional athletic training and sports medicine services to the intercollegiate student-athletes of Anna Maria College while adhering to the College’s mission of spiritual, intellectual, and personal growth. The primary services available include the prevention, management, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. We are committed to using any and all technology that is accessible and affordable in order to provide the most effective treatments possible.
We strive to provide every student-athlete with high-quality sports medicine health care in a professional manner while maintaining the standards set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association’s Code of Professional Practice and the statutes and regulations of the Division of Professional Licensure in The Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The Anna Maria College Sports Medicine Department promises that individuals can be assured of fair, effective treatment pertaining to athletic injuries regardless of any factor, including but not limited to race, religion, gender, or ability.
The Anna Maria Sports Medicine Department desires to become a recognized source of the delivery of outstanding athletic training and sports medicine services in The Commonwealth Coast Conference and in the Colleges of the Worcester Consortium. |
AMC Training Room Hours
Evaluations and rehabilitation of athletic injuries will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. After 2 p.m., time will be dedicated to coverage of practices and/or games. Saturday and Sunday will be strictly for practice/game coverage. No rehabilitation will take place unless other arrangements have been made.
The AMC Sports Medicine Office will be open one hour prior to all practices and two hours prior to all home contests.
If the Sports Medicine Office is closed during these hours, the certified athletic trainers may be covering practices/games in the gymnasium or outside on the fields.

Ray LeBoeuf has been the Head Athletic Trainer at Anna Maria College since 1986. Ray has also been an athletic trainer at the professional level, working with the Worcester Counts (1989) of the World Basketball League. He has been a certified athletic trainer since 1980.
A graduate of Northeastern University (’78), Ray has been involved in the professional growth of the athletic training profession. As one of the first licensed athletic trainers in the state, he continues his professional development by attending the national, district and state conventions.
Ray is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), Eastern Athletic Trainers Association (EATA), Athletic Trainers of Massachusetts (ATOM), and is a licensed athletic trainer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Ray lives in Shrewsbury with his wife Kathy. They have two daughters, both have attended private colleges. |

John Shliapa became the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Anna Maria College in September of 2008. He previously held the position of Athletic Trainer at South County Physical Therapy in Auburn, Massachusetts. While at South County Physical Therapy, he worked in the physical therapy clinic helping patients with rehabilitation of chronic, athletic, and post surgical injuries. He also provided athletic training services to Auburn High School. He has also held internships at Assumption College of Worcester, MA, New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA and Sports and Physical Therapy Associates of Wellesley, MA.
John graduated from Northeastern University (Boston, MA) with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. While attending Northeastern, he held clinical positions with the Emmanuel College, Harvard University, and Northeastern University Sports Medicine Departments.
John is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the National Board of Certification, and is licensed through the state of Massachusetts. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). |
